Wow Kim made this for me after I told her I had no way to make a pretty one! Wasn't that the sweetest, kindest gesture? My heart was so touched by this. I know that probably every one of us has someone in our lives who has suffered and maybe even succumbed to this evil disfiguring disease. My great-grandmother and my dear Aunt June are the two that come to mind for me. Both of these wonderful woman went on with their lives until they passed away from other causes but so many do not. I am so very passionate about this cause! This has really touched a nerve with me and I want to make sure that my effort is worthy of these two great ladies. And Kim, how can I say thank you enough? Please ladies, if you can spread the word in any way, we only have this week for this auction, but we always have the time to stop put a few of our funds into a cause like this. Thank you for watching and helping.

New Boot Tutorial

Hi all!
Well you may have noticed the plethora of videos that I have been uploading, lol that's because my computer was not working well and messed up everything I put on it. So I had to start over on the Victorian Boot project. However, it is fixed now and I have this tutorial to go with it. If there are any problems now just let me know and I will be glad to help. Enjoy the video, I decided just to put the link because it will take to long to upload here. It is 26 minutes and that is with the still pictures at the end so this is really simple and does not take long at all. Here are some pictures. Hi Friends!
I wanted to show you this gorgeous mini I created for Charity at A Lil Scrap of Heaven. We are doing Cynthialoowho's swap and she requested the 5 and dime paper. As you all know I am kind of a deep colors, vintage lover so bright and cheerful scared me to death........ However, I love it! This was the funnest project I have done so far bar none! It just kept growing and I could not leave anything out! I really do think it is very very nice.

I am entering this in the Design Team call for Alilscrapofheaven.ning so wish me luck. I hope you enjoy this. I am really thinking of making a few kits so if you would be interested let me know!

Sweet Photo Box

Hi! I created this little photo box for my first design team project for The Altered Page. It was alot of fun and actually very quick and easy. Some time ago, on a fishing trip with my husband, I was crocheting and I started creating these little oval frames with eyelet edging to insert trim into. I have made them in several sizes and just love how they turned out. Today I put some ribbon through this one and fell in love. The colors went together so well and it was just very very pretty. I mixed paint to match the ribbon, painted and modpodged the box in and out, made a little saying cut it out, blinged it up and slipped it on top of the photo here slot and Wa-La! sweet little box. Lot's of fun and so quick and easy, I would like to encourage everyone to come over to thealteredpage.ning.com and see what we are up to. You all have to see what I created yesterday. I was in a swap at The Scrap Beach for tags and I have never really made any unless they were for a specific album with the exception of my "fashion" tag which was for the WOC design team call. I wanted very much to enter the design team call for The Altered Page so I wanted these tags to be special. Well I can say that I love them, don't want to send them, LOL, and my 6 year old (very discerning) grandson says they are "So Beautiful!"

Grandsons are great for the ego. I had problems with the pictures but I will show you a little sneak peek of one and will post the whole bash later today.

Hello All,
Well as I said in the last post I have been making butterflies.....butterflies........and still more butterflies. It's been alot of fun tonight is the get together so I will be posting some more pictures of that but here are a few pictures of the preparations. Craziness! I also wanted to share a little dress I made for a small friend of mine. She brought the house down when she wore it to church on Sunday night. Our visiting evangelist called her the Polka Dot Princess and it's true she certainly was. I enjoyed seeing a little one in one of my creations again my princesses are all grown up! However I think Racquel is still a princess in her Easter dress that I made her this year don't you? Ok gotta get to crafting so much to do!

An Inspiring Call to Arms

Hi All,
With Memorial Day just passed here in the U.S. I have been contemplating the service of our brave men and women in the Armed Forces. I live in Colorado Springs CO. Home of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Fort Carson Army Base, Peterson Field Air Force Base, Shriver Air Force Base, NORAD, and another I can't include because it is top secret. So needless to say we have a lot of service men here in our community. This morning I opened a you tube video by fellow scrapper Enastasia, and was reminded about Operation Write Home. This is a program in which we as crafters send cards for all occasions to our troops so that they can send them home to their families.

Please join me in this wonderful endeavor. I know several soldiers personally who have used this service and they love it. There is a drive to get out the 2nd million cards by the 30th of June. Click on the link and start making a difference with your talent.
Enastasia also told us about a drive by the Holocaust Museum of Houston TX. The Museum is collecting 1,500,000 butterflies to represent the innocent children who were lost in the Holocaust.
What an incredible project! Make sure that you clink on this link and find out the rules (such as no glitter), gather some kids together and have them make some butterflies and tell them the story of the Holocaust. What a better way to spend a summer day?

Well I think I have let you know that I am trying out for the Wild Orchid Crafts design team on youtube. So I finally finished my projects and am getting ready to upload my video. Keep your fingers crossed for me this is a little harder than I thought it would be. Actually putting out my own creations for someone else to judge is daunting and a little weird. It is a vulnerable feeling lol, didn't know that I would feel this way but I do so heres hoping. Hi All,
Hope everyone is fine and having a great Saturday. I wanted to know if there was anyone out there who would like to do a die/cricut cut swap?? I thought it might be fun and economical LOL to have a swap where several of us with different dies could swap light weight chipboard dies or punches. I thought we could just stick like 10 in a plastic baggie and put them in a card and send them off. You all can send them to me and I will parsel them out. Maybe we could even just do a wish list amongst ourselves and then whoever wants what we can send them a few of them if we have them. Let me know your thoughts. I just won the Old Jalope by Tim Holtz and I think it is adorable. I have several others but would really like to have some nesties but they are so expensive!. Ok Let me know.

Wednesday WOOHOO

Well,
It's Wed. and my twins went home from the hospital today. I stayed up there with them and my daughter the whole time and it was nice to be able to help. Both my Son-in-Law and my Daughter got the stomach flu while we were up there. Jim stayed home, but of course Shelly was there. I thought I had escaped, everyone was sick but me!! Yeah........... Not so fast this morning on getting home I started a temp and throwing up Yippee 24 hour flu. LOL this really is getting to be ridiculous you all. I am better this afternoon so I thought I would get on here and share the good news that the boys are home and we found the most wonderful Dr. so it was not all bad. So on the mend here still a little cold though.
Waiting (not so patiently) on SUMMER.
Very soon some crafting things are coming!!!!!

Well first order of business here's one for global warming, Snowing on the 15th of May in Colorado!
Stupid weather!
Hospital time for >>>> Twins! We (the twins, their mother and I) were admitted into the hospital 3 days ago for pneumonia. Shelly and me are really working keeping them happy poor little tots! Their Dad is sick at home.
My daughter Bethany is sick with fever and cough but Children's hospital said to just keep her hydrated and full of fever reducer unless she gets worse. Racquel and Esther two other daughters at home are both down with fevers, nausea and general ick!
I think I need a vacation to warmer climes. Anybody want a worn out house guest? lol.
Actually doing really well and keeping our spirits up. Maybe by the time the weather turns to summer we will be well enough to enjoy it.

God Bless the USA!

God forbid that I rejoice at the death of any man, even this man. But relief and satisfaction are emotions that have overwhelmed me in the past 12 hours. I have to admit to elation on first hearing about the death of bin Laden. But I quickly turned to more somber feelings. I am thankful that our world no longer has this man in it. I am thankful to the men and women of our armed forces who put themselves in harms way every day to try to make the world not just the U.S. a safer and better place to live. I remembered my shock and dismay on 9/11. Again, I grieved for the loss of innocent life that was taken then. The horror of hearing about attacks in Israel, Britain, Spain and around the world. It makes no difference if this man was responsible for all of the terror, he made others believe it was possible and gave them courage to try their own destruction. I know that this brings a fresh wave of security issues, more danger for our soldiers abroad, but we will get through it. God has blessed the U.S. and he will continue. These are historic times we live in. So whether you are a fellow citizen of these United States or a citizen of another great country, stop today to reflect on the truth of the matter that justice has been done. The world is a better place for not having this master-mind of murder in it.
God bless not only the U.S. but all of the other countries who have put troops on the ground to stop this meaningless violence against ordinary people. With a humble heart and thankful relief I say

I was able to catch THE wedding and have to say it was very sweet. I wish them all the joy and happiness possible. I am excited about spring finally getting here although there was a normal Easter snow storm here in Colorado. I have been doing quite a bit of handmade crocheted lace, if anyone wants to swap I would love to see what's out there. I would like to know if anyone is interested in doing a mini book challenge with prizes. If that sounds fun comment and we will start on it.

Denver Day!!

Well we went to Children's today and got a cast/splint/something for Bethany's leg. I am not too happy with it at this point but we will see. As I said yesterday I was very drowsy and LOL you guys I fell asleep at the hospital. I really did, I don't mean dozed off I mean ASLEEP. I put a quilt over Bethany's chair and laid my head on it waiting for them and the next thing I know the Dr. is waking me up by shaking my shoulder. I was so embarrassed! Oh well, life I guess. I did scan some patterns into the computer, took another video and I posted something to you all!!! Hopefully I am going to the computer store tomorrow so they can help with the problem of these goofy uploads. So hopefully you will see what I am doing on the Grand Piano. It is coming along nicely and I am not giving up.
OH and I started my exercise regimen again today so I am going to make a page that is entirely devoted to my weight loss. For those of you who do not know I have lost 102 pounds but am still about 140 pounds overweight. The biggest loser diet has helped me tremendously.

Still working!!

Well..
No videos as yet, however I did wash Tigger all nice and I took a before and after shot so I will post those hopefully tomorrow. Today was a very productive day. My daughter Shelly and her family came in early and I made them pancakes for breakfast. Then we all talked and played with my twin grandsons while My husband Roger and Jim my Son-in-Law put a step rail on Rogers new truck. Then they called Eoger in to work early and Jim came in and set up my icemaker and water in my new frig,Yay!!! I took a nap with my babies woke up and it was done! yippee. They went home and another crop of teenagers came in and started palaying games and I started scrapbooking. I finished two great projects and watched Kathy at Paper Phenomenon do a little mini album class on ustream. I just loved the binding that she did. then I caught up on my you tube and e mail wrote this and am ready for bed! The Hospital called Monday afternoon and said that I could not come up today that I needed to go to the main hospital on Wed. so Bethany and I are going up there first thing in the morning to get her cast. So I had better get some sleep or I will be fighting drowsiness the whole drive to Denver. I hope you had a productive day too.

Well,
The video did not upload again for yesterday but i again am not going to become discouraged I will just continue to make them and eventually they will get to you! So my goal for today is to brush, wash and blowdry my maltese. I have him brushed and am giving him a break before washing him. He is so pretty I will post a picture of him in a little while. I just opened my beautiful mini from the TWS and love it.

Well,
I spent the entire day yesterday trying to upload a video(actually 4 videos) to Marions 31 day challenge and I could not do it. each and every one says there is an unknown error. So then I became really discouraged. FAILED after the first day! Who does that?? Deanna.

Then I thought NO I will not be defeated! I am forever doing this to myself. So I am getting up dusting myself off and trying again.

I have 3 goals fro today. I want to take pictures (not videos) of Bethany's leg xrays. I want to post the here and for the challenge. I was thinking that I also needed to do something again for yesterday but you know what? Continuing in the face of opposition is my accomplished goal for yesterday lol and I am just simply going to get up and go on.

Adventures Happen When We Least Expect Them

Happy New Year!
Well 2010 was a strange and rather wonderful year in my household. My Grandmother ( the first Fern) turned 100 in March. Two of my daughters graduated with their Associates of Science in May, (well done first steps in higher education). We spent our first entire year away from Pepsi-Cola, (my husband worked there for 34 years). We had our first year in the last 6 with Roger only working 1 job (he has worked 2 for 5 years before 2010). Bethany was completely hospital, sickness, surgery and break free until Nov. (when she decided to make up for lost time.) Racquel, 20, got her drivers license and a car for graduation (blessing in disguise.)I gave Ashley a Bind-it-All for her graduation present because it looked cool and I thought that she would like to play with it........... and the journey into scrapping began.
Wow it's been a year! The very best thing to come from this year is that I found this wonderful community of people who understand the need to create beautiful things and share them with others. I am so thankful for you all!
Now on to the adventure. We were planning our evening and since all of our girls except Bethany were in TX at a church conference, Roger and I were planning an evening of games with my mom and grandmother. I was eagerly anticipating attending Laura, from Following the Paper Trails, New Year's Eve bash, when I heard Roger call out a startled "OH NO" from Bethany's room. Rushing in I find him standing white faced over Bethany. Bethany is cracking up laughing and Roger scolds her that "It's not funny!" and looks at me stunned. I start to ask what's wrong and Bethany screams with laughter "I'm broken!"
I sat down with a thump on the chair and then had to rush out of the room to keep Bethany from hearing me laugh.
Her leg was broken. Now before anyone cries out in horror at the laughter and what horrible parents we are, lets put this in context. Bethany is paralyzed from the waist down with no feeling below the midriff. As a result of no weight bearing, her legs are extremely small and brittle and as a consequence break very easily. Once I was sitting in the hospital with her and I reached over to pat her knee and it felt rather large. My heart sank and I lifted the blanket and sure enough during the night the nurses had moved her and inadvertently broken her leg. Of course they did not know it because she can't feel and tell you that it is done so you don't know until it starts swelling. So, because Bethany is fairly active and silly breaks are rather frequent. Well, you know, starting around age 9. But we have gone a good long spell without one this time, 18 months Woo hoo. So anyway, no it was not funny but Bethany was, and her laughter is truly infectious. But we are in the midst of a blizzard here in Colorado and both Roger and I were not happy at the hour and 1/2 drive to Denver. But it was actually quite clear on the highway and we made very good time. We went right into a room at the ER, there was no one else there and they had her xrayed, casted and out of there before the New Year! It was so funny we packed blankets, food, candles, pop and even a game in case we got stuck and then the roads were almost completely dry, thank the Lord. I sent my first ever phone e-mail on my new phone to a friend in England on the way to the hospital and was even able to connect to Laura's show up at the hospital. and I WON A PRIZE! I don't know what I won LOL She was giving away things so fast and I was so excited to hear my name I started clapping and squealing, the nurse came in wondering what the excitement was. I said "I won, I won........... oh what did I win?? LOL
It was overall a nice evening. We spent some quality time together on the drive, got to see our friends at the hospital and got home in good time. 2010 adventures over.

Happy 30th Day of December!
I hope this finds everyone well on the way to a great new year. I am finishing up last years projects frantically and cleaning organizing and updating my craft space. I am so excited about what 2011 holds. As I was catching up on youtube this morning I saw the best technique and I just had to share it with you.

Race to the New Year Yeah!!!!

Hi everybody I hope your Christmas was wonderful and any other holiday that you might celebrate. The New Year is coming and I am determined to get everything that is undone for 2010 finished before friday. Are you with me Party People? (as Kathy from PaperPhenomenon would say). My friend Alyson from craftingtostaysane.blogspot.comsaid she was going to update her blog and that reminded me of all of you lonely peeps over here lol. My 4th New Years resolution is to keep my blog updated well! So heres prayers that Bethany has no hospital drama this week because I really want to get stuff done. Don't have alot actually but I will be doing a video series in January of the piano album so I want to make sure everything is ready and the craft space is almost finished so there is really no reason not to use New Years as a goal right? goals are always great.

Back to the hospital again! Well looks like we might be here a while this time. Bethany is very sick and just maintaining here at Children's. The good news is that she will not have to have another brain surgery or at least not today lol. Things change by the hour! I will be posting some pictures later. Home again home again jiggety jig!

Hi all,
Got home actually this morning at 3:00 a.m. LOL We came up with a plan of treating Bethany here at home and I am so happy to be home they said we could go and I was out the door. I want you all to know that The Children's Hospital in Denver is one of the finest in the world and I have thought so for the last 17 years. They are always there no matter what and I so appreciate that. I will have to post some pictures of it. It is truly amazing. The new facility is only 2 years old and it is incredible. They treat children from all over the world and of course as you know any emergency room visit is always provided at any hospital no matter the ability to pay by law in the U.S. so they are great. Ok enough of that for today everything is good. Can't believe that I am up so early this morning but I am so glad to be home!
I am working on some mini's for this weekend I have my first craft show so keep me in your prayers. I am excited about it. I will make little kits and things as I go because I have A LOT of Christmas paper.
Ok got to go.

Whew what a crazy few weeks!

Ok everybody I am home, I am ready for the giveaway, my HP kits are finally going out and Bethany seems to be doing alright although a little under the weather today. For those of you who don't know, my Daughter Bethany had to have emergency brain surgery and it really really has set me back, and then there were problems with paypal and then I can't reply to your comments yada yada yada!

But things are looking better and we are home, and looking forward to doing all of this sending tomorrow! I am finally caught up again!
I hope this finds all of you well also. I will have some Christmas kits later this week so be looking for them. Thanks

Hi, everybody Happy Thanksgiving and Thank goodness Black Friday is over! not really I actually had alot of fun shopping today. It has become a tradition that one of my childhood friends and I go shopping every year money or not. Just for the experience and to feel the excitement of the day. Today we actually had several things to get and we were in and out quickly it went really well. My sweet hubby then took me out again and got me ...... a Refrigerator, a washer/dryer, a microwave, and a couch! now if that isn't a haul I don't know what is!!!!!!! yeah they are many years past due I can tell you. It was alot of fun.
But back to the important stuff. YOU!

Hi this is Ashley here, the fourth fern, and I am going to be taking over a little of the posting here since I'm a little more technical then my mother. This last week we put together a prototype of our grand Piano mini album. It looks awesome but still has some work before we create a kit for the final project. This was actually my idea but my mom's skill put to work. She's used several awesome techniques here to create a true masterpiece. Here is her youtube video.
